At PURR - Philadelphia Urgent Rescue and Relief, we are committed to helping cats with urgent medical needs. Many abandoned, neglected, and homeless cats suffer from severe injuries, illnesses, and other conditions that require immediate attention. Without intervention, these vulnerable felines have little to no chance of survival.
Through the support of dedicated volunteers, donors, and veterinary partners, we ensure that these cats receive the critical treatments they need, from emergency surgeries and specialized care to rehabilitation and recovery.
Every cat deserves a chance at a healthy, pain-free life. With your support, we can continue to provide urgent medical relief and find loving homes for those who need us most. Join us in making a life-changing difference—because every life matters.
PURR provides a secure, loving outdoor sanctuary for cats who are not traditionally adoptable and have nowhere else to go. These cats, generally feral, semi-social, or displaced, find safety, daily nourishment, and shelter in a peaceful environment where they can thrive.
With a dedicated on-site caregiver to provide fresh food, clean water, warm shelters, and medical care as needed, our sanctuary offers a humane alternative for cats who cannot live indoors but deserve a life of dignity and care.
The expenses associated with keeping our sanctuary up and running are seemingly never ending and we are so grateful for each and every donation that we receive to help care for our resident kitties and give them the second chance they deserve. Unfortunately, we have to maintain firm limits on the number of cats at our sanctuary, to ensure that we can adequately provide the care they need.
If you are interested in finding placement at our sanctuary, please contact us at contact@purrphilly.com to begin the process. We require an application be completed for any cats that are looking for placement and a $500 donation, which helps offset the significant costs associated with committing to a cat for the rest of their life.
TNR is a method for attempting to humanely and effectively manage free-roaming, domestic cats. This practice involves first getting appropriate vet care for the cats, which usually includes sterilization, vaccinations and flea treatment. In our version of TNR, once a cat is vetted, their individual personality is assessed and based on that assessment and the needs of each cat, they are either released back into their territory or, if they are friendly and adoptable, every effort is made to find an indoor home for them. We STRONGLY believe that friendly cats deserve so much more than an outdoor life and the many associated threats and dangers. We realize that doing the right thing for each cat can be a lot more work but we believe the cats are worth it and we hope that the world around us will start to embrace the same mindset.
At PURR - Philadelphia Urgent Rescue and Relief, our mission began as a TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) initiative, but we quickly realized the need for an adoption program for the many friendly, adoptable cats we encountered. What started as a small effort has grown beyond what we ever imagined, and now, we work tirelessly to find loving, responsible homes for these deserving cats.
We take great care in our adoption process, carefully screening potential adopters to ensure the best possible match. Not every home is right for every cat, and not every cat is right for every home—our thoughtful approach prioritizes both the cat’s and adopter’s needs to create lasting, happy placements.
Each cat in our program has a unique story, and we are committed to giving them the second chance they deserve. By adopting from us, you’re not only gaining a wonderful feline companion but also helping us continue our life-saving work. If you're ready to open your heart and home to a cat in need, we’d love to help you find your perfect match!
